Senior Project Link

The theme of our group project was a time travel. We basically incorporated pictures from last year and this year showing how much we changed over the past 2 years. I helped decided what pictures to use for the video and also what music would best suit the theme. Then I downloaded the music onto the flash drive. The hardest part of the Senior Project was having to come up with a different idea after the lip-dub at prom failed. The easiest part of the Senior Project was picking out the pictures to use but that soon became a challenge when we were creating the video because of the resolution.

Senior Project

1.The people in my group are Kelly Ly, Dorsa Mir Norouzi, Hannah Sternblitz, and Caitlin Daniels.
2.Our project is a lip dub that we are going to create at prom this Saturday. Then at the end we will say our goodbyes to the class of 2015.
3.I am contributing to the project by filming the people saying goodbye and I will also be in the video at the end saying goodbye. I will also help picking the songs that we will use with the lip dub and help with editing.

Capstone Presentation Recap

At my booth I had my computer, a gavel, my infographic, my survey, a display of a photo line-up, and a bowl of candy. My capstone presentation went better than I expected. I had Mr. Miller and Mrs. Jett as my judges and they were nice. The hardest part was when I was asked one question that I did not know the answer to, but since the question had to do with advances in technology I presented an answer that involved technology as a solution to the problem of wrongful convictions. I did not get any negative feedback and they told me that I did great afterwards. The most fun was being one of the first ones to be judged so that I did not have to stand at my booth the whole night. I got the chance to look at other amazing booths and test out their end product. I am glad that I was apart of this and relieved that it is over. I am really anxious to know the score that I made. Honestly, it was an experience that I will never forget and I am thankful for it. It taught me some life long skills that I can use forever.

Capstone Presentation Assets

For my Capstone Presentation I will have my info graphic poster, my completed website, and the PSA will be on my website. I want to get a stand so that my info graphic can stand on it's own. I will also have a table cloth that i can lay my props on. Other than the main components I plan to have a gavel. In order to get the attention of others I'm going to have candy.

Infographic Poster

My infographic relates to my Capstone Project because it is coincides with the information i presented in my 15 page essay. It also gives the reader a visual guide to how my paper is organized and it sends you to my end product.
I did not have to do any more research in order to complete my infographic.
The easiest part about creating my infographic was putting in the information that I found from previous research. The hardest part was masking the pictures into the circles so that they are all aligned and centered.
I created my original infographic during Winter Term but I had to make some changes so that it fit the criteria for this class. For instance, I had to change the dimensions and delete some of my information.
Currently I have to change some of the things that my classmates pointed out during my presentation, but other than that I am finished.

Infographic

The main idea of my info graphic is to showcase the reasons behind wrongful convictions. I also want to give specific examples of people and put a few pictures of wrongly convicted people. I also want to explain the challenges people have when fighting for their innocence. Then i want to show who is affected the most when it comes to race. Lastly i will explain how the public can make a difference.

Section 1: Introduce the problem
Section 2:Reasons behind wrongful conviction
Section 3: Place pictures to give specific examples
Section 4:Challenges faced by the accused
Section 5: How the public can help

PSA

"How to write a PSA"
This article was very detailed about how to make a PSA and answered many of the things I was unsure about. It also explains how to make sure your PSA is important and can catch your audience's attention quickly so they will be interested in what your PSA will present. It tells you to take your audience into consideration and to also to make everything formal so that it is professional. After reading this article I have a clear understanding on how to make an effective PSA.

PSA#1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2MTNC2Jolk

This PSA was quite simple but still got the point across that people are put into prison for crimes that they are innocent of. I liked the way the displayed the words and used intricate designs on the PSA because it caught my attention. The fact that was incorporated about misidentification was another aspect that i liked about the PSA because it tells you one of the main reasons why people are wrongly convicted. Also the parting comment "don't convict the innocent" was meaningful to the PSA because it wraps up what the whole announcement was about.

PSA#2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYONueqOFps
This PSA was interesting to me because it used a lot of statistics about wrongful convictions. The music in the background was also effective because it emphasis the seriousness of wrongful conviction. The narrator of the PSA is very formal and has a tone that keeps your attention. The pictures that are in the PSA are also effective because it appeals to your emotional side.

Questions
1. What are the key points you will emphasis?
The key points that i will emphasis are misidentification and perjury.

2. What visuals and audio are appropriate?
I want to use dramatic music and use normal people because that makes up for the people who are wrongly convicted or just use words for my whole PSA, asking rhetorical questions.

3. What type of PSA will you use?
I want to use a text PSA.

4. Outline of proposed structure?
I will start off the PSA by asking rhetorical questions such as "Do you think there is a problem within our judicial system?" Then go into facts about wrongful convictions and then in the end talk about my end product that i made for my capstone.

Capstone Goals

Capstone Goals
The goal of my capstone project is to raise awareness of wrongful convictions. Unfortunately the judicial system makes mistakes, but it takes a society as a whole to combat this issue. This is important because it could happen to anyone at anytime. No one should have to serve time for a crime that they did not commit. My intended career field is law. I want to become a defense attorney, and my goal fits this career because i will be defending someone who is innocent of a crime. My end product would be to create a virtual round table where prosecutors, lawyers, judges, investigators, and the exonerated individual can come together to discuss what happened during the trail so that the same mistake won't happen again. I am aware that this will not completely solve the problem of wrongful convictions in the US, but it will bring awareness to our society. People should realize that just because investigators have found a suspect, does not necessarily mean that person is guilty. Since normal people are serving for jury duty, it is imperative that are aware of this problem and are knowledgeable about some of the factors that can lead to wrongful convictions.
